NANAHEMAA ADJOA AWINDOR

(Queenmother, Filmmaker, Broadcaster, Marketing Executive & OSD Consultant)

Out of the desire to set up an NGO focusing mainly on supporting the Development of Women and Children in Ghana stemmed out of pure passion to make a difference in the lives of women and children.

Much of Nana's career has been centered on her gifted understanding of Multimedia, Projects and Events Management and has been providing professional services to various organizations from governmental level to development agencies, NGOs, corporate as well as private entities.

Her installation as Development Queenmother of Afigya-Kwabre District a few years ago, saw Nana intensifying her niche for social work. She founded the Obaapa Development Foundation, an NGO that seeks to support Women and Children through Advocacy, Health and Education. Her NGO is currently working on a 1000 Teenage Mothers Back to School Project among other Advocacy programmes with Queenmothers.

EDUCATION

As a film maker and television producer Nana received formal training at the National Film & Television Institute (NAFTI), majoring in Editing and also completed a course of professional studies at the Radio Netherlands Training Centre, Hilversum, Netherlands.

Other programs include:

  • Professional Certificate in Organisational Systems Development at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, USA & OD Centre – Ghana.
  • A Post-graduate Diploma in Business Administration at the European Business School Cambridge, UK, offered at Oxford SAID campus.
  • A Certificate in Women and Management (Mid-Level) and a Certificate in Marketing Management, both from GIMPA plus a certificate in Account Management. On the field, she has taught film editing at NAFTI and produced documentaries and television commercials.
