The event brought together schoolgirls, teachers, health professionals, traditional leaders, and community members to raise awareness on menstrual hygiene management and to break the stigma surrounding menstruation.
In her address, the Executive Director of Obaapa Development Foundation underscored the importance of empowering girls with accurate information and access to menstrual hygiene products to ensure they do not miss school during their periods. She emphasized that menstrual health is a human right and a vital component of gender equality and women’s health.
Participants benefited from educational sessions led by health experts, focusing on menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and self-care. The Foundation also distributed sanitary pads and educational materials to adolescent girls in the participating schools.
Community leaders commended ODF for its continuous commitment to advancing the welfare of women and girls through education, advocacy, and health-focused initiatives.
The Trede commemoration formed part of ODF’s broader campaign to promote menstrual health education and eliminate barriers that prevent girls from achieving their full potential.
