Two-Day Capacity Building Workshop in Navrongo Paramountcy
The Obaapa Development Foundation, in partnership with UNFPA Ghana and the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, organized a two-day capacity building workshop for traditional leaders in the Navrongo Paramountcy.
The training brought together chiefs, queen mothers, elders, and community leaders to deepen their understanding of the causes and effects of child marriage. Participants discussed the legal, health, and social implications of the practice and explored culturally sensitive approaches to ending it within their communities.
Through interactive sessions and group discussions, the leaders developed community action plans aimed at preventing early marriages, promoting girls’ education, and strengthening family and community awareness. The workshop emphasized the vital role of traditional authorities as change agents in protecting children and promoting gender equality
