Obaapa Development Foundation Marks Women’s Day Celebration at Sokpoe

The Obaapa Development Foundation (ODF) on Wednesday, 16th April 2025, organized a vibrant Women’s Day celebration at Sokpoe in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region. The event brought together women, traditional leaders, community members, and stakeholders to celebrate the resilience, achievements, and contributions of women in the area while addressing key issues affecting their development and well-being.

Speaking at the event, representatives of the Foundation emphasized ODF’s commitment to empowering women through education, healthcare access, and economic support. The celebration featured discussions on reproductive health, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and the fight against gender-based violence — themes central to the Foundation’s mission of advancing women’s rights and social inclusion.

In her remarks, the Executive Director of Obaapa Development Foundation underscored the need for sustained investment in women’s health and education. She urged families and community leaders to continue supporting girls’ education and promoting equal opportunities for women to thrive.

The event also highlighted breast cancer awareness, with health personnel providing free screenings and educational sessions on early detection and treatment. Participants expressed appreciation to ODF for bringing such impactful initiatives to Sokpoe and called for continued collaboration to address challenges facing women in rural communities.

The Sokpoe Women’s Day celebration forms part of Obaapa Development Foundation’s ongoing national campaign to promote gender equality and empower women across Ghana through advocacy, education, and community-based interventions.
